WENDY RYDEN, MSW, RCSW 

Wendy Ryden is a Registered Clinical Social Worker providing psychological counselling services at Maloney Elkassem Wellness in St Albert, Alberta. 

 

She provides Individual Counselling for teenagers and adults, Couples Counsellling, Family Counselling, and Group Counselling. 

 

Wendy works collaboratively with her clients in a strengths based approach to address the specific and unique challenges expressed by her clients. She supports people through a multitude of complex issues that negatively impact their mental, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Wendy addresses a wide range of issues, from mental health to family dynamics. Using a blend of therapies, Wendy guides clients towards improved well-being with issues including: 

  • PTSD/Trauma, 

  • Depression/Anxiety, 

  • Loss & Grief,

  • Stress & Burnout, 

  • Family & Relationship Difficulties,

  • Mindfulness & Self Awareness,

  • Parenting support for families with Neurodiversities.

A Christian faith based approach may be provided upon request. 


 

EDUCATION 

Wendy is a Registered Clinical Social Worker with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Toronto. Prior to her Master’s Degree she completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Psychology Major) at Acadia University. 

 

Wendy is a member in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). 


 

EXPERIENCE 

Prior to joining Maloney Elkassem Wellness Clinic, for the past 10+ years, Wendy worked as a psychotherapist as the owner/operator of her own private practice. Additionally, she has spent the last 7 years as an adjunct professor at Vanguard College, teaching various courses in the social sciences. 

 

Prior to her private counselling practice, she worked for Alberta Health Services in community mental health, crisis services, and acute care settings. 

 

Wendy has worked with individuals of all ages, many sociocultural backgrounds, and has extensive experience in working with families with neurodevelopmental challenges. She is skilled in working with a variety of mental health conditions, stress & burnout, grief & loss, relationship challenges, family dynamics, trauma, and many other issues that can negatively impact our overall health and wellbeing. 

 

Wendy integrates various therapeutic techniques into her work, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, emotion focused therapy and EMDR.
