JAW PAIN

From an actual thank you card:

“...for two years after my car accident, jaw pain was making my life pure hell. Sincere thanks for finally giving me some relief”

JAW PAIN?
HERE’S WHY YOU SHOULD CONSULT OUR TEAM AT MALONEY ELKASSEM WELLNESS…

Jaw pain (or ‘TMJ’ pain as it is often called) is often the end result of trauma to the neck and head (as with whiplash or concussion injury). In it’s early stages, most cases of jaw pain result from mechanical dysfunction and irritation of the muscles and joint structures of the TM joint. This leads to inflammation of the joint structures and spasm or imbalance of the jaw muscles.

At Maloney Elkassem Wellness Center, we offer a wide variety of treatment options tailored to treat your specific problems. In fact, our well-rounded approach allows us to successfully treat many cases of jaw pain where other treatments have failed.

Dr. Kevin Maloney works in consultation with several area dentists and orthodontists on TMJ issues like pain, clicking and popping in the jaw.  He has lectured to the dental community on the musculo-skeletal treatment of TMD through the University of Alberta Faculty of Dentistry continuing education program.  Additionally, one of our Acupuncturists, Dr. Nhu Ton, has completed additional training specific to the treatment of TMJ issues.

Active Release Techniques (ART) soft tissue therapy, joint manipulation, Activator joint adjustments, Trigger Point therapy and other soft tissue therapies, Laser Therapy, jaw occlusion retraining exercises and stretches are some of the most common approaches that we use in alleviating headaches, though if it’s ever apparent that you need treatment beyond what we can provide, we can refer you to one of the many other health professionals that we trust.

We provide relief for many types of jaw, or TMJ, pain. If you suffer from jaw pain, you owe it to yourself to call us...
